Thanks to the generous support of Cemex Uk, we are proud to re-launch the Macready as Rugby Town’s only professional venue, committing 1/3 of all our tickets to touring work programmed in the theatre, to local school groups for free. This will allow hundreds of children, many of whom will never otherwise have had the opportunity to see live theatre, to experience and learn from some of the country’s best touring companies without the need to travel great distances, and at no cost.

We are also committed to offering competitively priced tickets to local residents to all touring shows, guaranteeing wherever possible that it will be cheaper to see the same or equivalent show here in Rugby than travelling out of town to theatres further afield. The boost to the night time economy  in Rugby Town will be welcome by local businesses and the wider community.

By making Rugby School’s Macready Theatre a public, professional venue with a programme of live theatre, dance, music, comedy and spoken word, we are proud to be able to give something back to the community and to do our part in securing the future of our industry not just for the privileged few, but for all. Furthermore, as the new hub for Rugby’s Festival on The Close, the Macready is now home to one of the country’s most ambitious educational arts festivals each year.

We would be delighted if you would attend our official re-launch event, which will feature performances from internationally acclaimed dance company Motionhouse as well as student work from some of Rugby School’s young professional actors, and help us to build a more creative future for the people of Rugby.
